About this tour

The Tiji Festival, celebrated in the Upper Mustang Region of Nepal, is a vibrant and culturally significant event held annually in the walled city of Lo Manthang. This three-day festival marks the triumph of good over evil and is rooted in Tibetan Buddhism, featuring colorful processions, traditional dances, and religious ceremonies. Local people, along with trekkers, gather to witness the spectacular events, which include sacred rituals performed by monks, mask dances, and offerings to the deities for protection and prosperity.

The Upper Mustang Trek, combined with the Tiji Festival, offers a rare opportunity to explore one of Nepal’s most remote and mystical regions while immersing yourself in its rich cultural heritage. Trekkers on this journey experience the stark beauty of Mustang’s desert landscapes, ancient monasteries, and Tibetan-influenced villages, all while being part of the lively and spiritual atmosphere of the Tiji Festival. This trek is ideal for those seeking adventure, cultural immersion, and a truly unique Himalayan experience.
